This department is equipped with most modern diagnostic and surgical equipment like Specular Microscope, Computerized Corneal Topography, Anterior-segment photography, Pachymtery etc. Over 1200 corneal transplants have been performed so far. It also offers Radial Keratotomy, Photorefractive Keratotomy etc. This department also runs a subspecialty fellowship course for one year.
b. Retina and Diabetes
This department has facilities for Posterior Vitrectomy, Retinal Reattachment Surgery, Air Fluid Exchange, Argon laser, Endo laser, Fundus Flouresceine Angiography and Electrophysiological tests. Large number of patients with retinal problems including diabetes is treated here. Well-trained and experienced staff provides excellent services to patients. The latest OCT is now available here.
c. Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus
Pediatric Ophthalmology is one of the best in the country. It has five Specialized pediatric Opthamologists. Two of them have been trained at Tornato hospital for sick childern. It deals with all the eye problems of children with latest surgical and diagnostic quipment like Ret Cam.
d. Glaucoma
The Glaucoma department runs a very busy clinic. Supported by Humphrey Field Analyzer and retinal Tomograms, it is dealing with all types of Glaucoma's. Early detection and timely treatment is the aim of doctors working in the clinic.
e. Orbit and Oculoplastic
Tumors and other lid problems are very serious and difficult to manage. This department lead by an experienced Oculoplastic surgeon deals in cases of ocular tumors and patients requiring Lid/ Orbital surgery. Treating eye cancers in time has saved many lives.
f. Lacrimal
Recently started subspecialty deals with diseases of the Nasolacrimal system in which the common problem is that of watering of the eye due to blockage of tear ducts.
g. Contact Lens and Artificial Eye Clinic
This service has been recently provided and patients can now have contact lenses and artificial Eyes within the hospital on reasonable rates.
i- Low Vision Clinic
This unique service in the country deals with those patients who cannot be treated either medically or surgically but they still have residual vision, which can be made use of by the help of special glasses and other low vision aid. Supervised by a senior Ophthalmologist it has a counselor and two Optometrists. It also makes low cost low vision aid devices indigenously.
